1. Dal-Chawal
This simple delicacy is something that everyone craves for after a long tiring day. And this sometimes is also the only food for someone who lives alone an d doesn’t know how to make rotis.
2. Dal-Roti
Who can forget the most delicious Dal-Roti prepared by our Moms? These definitely are the first things that one wants to binge on while visiting mothers. Dal-Roti is definitely that one food that beats all sandwiches, pizzas, Pastas and every other foods that we love.
3. Idly-Sambhar
Healthy, Light and Yummy. Idly Sambhar is one of the preferred breakfast in the south. It’s a fermented food which is what makes it healthy and light. “
4. Kadhi-Chawal
An all-time favourite among the Punjabis; this delicacy is simply amazing and is a yogurt based ‘curry’ with fritters. There are different types of kadhis- Gujarati, Sindhi and Punjabi- but they are all simply exquisite.
5. Khichidi
Dubbed as India’s “Soul Food” and is probably the one food that is favourite across ages, genders, cultures, regions, homes and generations! It is also a perfect food according to Ayurveda; It is also called as ‘Patient food’ as it is the food eaten when one is sick or has an upset stomach.
6. Makkai di Roti-Sarson da Saag
A Staple of Punjabis; This is a comfort food generally eaten during Winter months.
7. Pakore-Chai
Chai, is anyways known as “Drink of India”, Pakores are nothing less. Pakores are an all time favourite and is most preferred on a rainy day with a hot steaming mug of tea. Pakores /Fritters can be of almost anything- Onion, pepper, paneer, palak, methi, brinjal, aloo, and almost everything!
8. Paratha
Parathas are everyone’s favourite!! From plain to stuffed to Malabari to Lacchaparathas- one cannot resist this and cannot stop with only one! Basically a Maharastrian breakfast delicacy, it is also most commonly prepared in Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh, especially in Indore and Ujjain! It is healthy, light and tastiest!
10. Rajma- Chawal
Another one of the most favourite comfort foods relished by everyone; it is best enjoyed when served steaming!
11. Vada-Pav
A Street-fast food famously from Maharashtra, it is taste personified. You can enjoy it mild or spicy but yes, the spicy version is literally the best with red chutney and green chutney! Have it with a hot tea! ]
