Pranav Dhanawade: The Cricket Prodigy

Pranav,  a 15-year-old school cricketer who plays for KC Gandhi English High School, Kalyan, near Mumbai is the son of an auto-rickshaw driver. This genius became known for his  1009 runs not out against AryaGurukul, Kalyan, in a school match during the U-16 HT Bhandari Trophy Inter-School Cricket Tournament. This is the highest individual score at any competitive level of the game throughout the world and the only other person who scored  a sextuple century is Arthur Collins.

The team declared their score on 1465 breaking the earlier record of Victoria, who had made 1107 against New South Wales way back in 1926.

Impressed by his feet,  the Maharashtra government has decided to foot all his educational and coaching expenses. “Pranav’s spectacular performance scoring over 1000 runs and creating a new world record, is indeed a matter of great pride for the entire state and the whole country,” Tawde said in a congratulatory message.

Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar congratulated the teenager by tweeting
