De-Tanning your Skin

Indian Skin and Summer–  These are probably the most vicious enemies- With Summer having an edge being harsh while Indian skin being sensitive, is always prone to sun burnt, tanning and in most cases- being affected very badly due to rashes. Salons, sun blocks, de-tan face packs, meds- nothing can combat the scorching and harsh sun rays- so what else can be tried? – Kitchen! Yes, that’s right. Things to combat and prevent sun burns and tanning are all seen and present in our kitchens.

Here are few tips on using these everyday items towards our advantage.

1.Tomatoes:
Mash-tomatoes-and-segregate-the-pulpMash tomatoes and segregate the pulp, then apply the juice of the pulp on your face. Let it dry for about 15 min. then rinse it with cool water. Do this twice a week.

2.Lemon juice and Sugar
Lemon-juice-and-SugarLemon juice when accompanied with sugar crystals is an excellent de-tanning and exfoliating agent. Mix these two ingredients and apply on your face. Rinse with cool water after 20 minutes. Do this once a week

3.Yogurt
Yogurt-with-lemon-juice-is-the-most-commonYogurt with lemon juice is the most common, preferred and the easiest way to de-tan. You can also mix Bengal gram flour (besan) into this pack for even quicker results. If you are using    besan,     then apply this pack twice a week and if using yogurt and lemon only, then do this once every day.

4.Potatoes:
Potato-paste-with-lemon-juicePotato-paste with lemon juice when applied on your face, will effectively and quickly remove the blemishes and tan from your skin. Apply this paste for 20 minutes and rinse with cool water. Do this once a week regularly for 2 months.

5.Aloe Vera:
Aloe-Vera-is-immensely-helpfulAloe Vera is immensely helpful as it forms a healing layer which soothes, and rehydrates and heals the skin underneath.  Mix Aloe Vera and lemon juice and apply on your face. Wipe it off with a cotton ball after 15-20 minutes.

6.Cucumber:
Cucumber-with-its-cooling-propertiesCucumber with its’ cooling properties when combined with milk gives a soothing and moisturizing effect on our skin. Apply a paste of cucumber and milk and apply on the skin. Rinse after 20 minutes. Doing this twice a day for a month is sure to help you with the tanned, dried and burnt skin
