Hosting Olympic is not a cake walk. The hosting nation has to reassure the IOC, International Olympic Committee that the Olympic Village will be up to the required standards, and constructing such villages sometimes causes financial crisis to the nation, which sometimes, the nation isn’t able to cope. Like the 28th edition of the Olympics held in Brazil has put the country in a financial crisis. However, once the games are over, these stadiums are left to rot. Instead of them being maintained and made open for public use, they are abandoned.
Here are some pictures of Olympic stadiums and villages from around the world that have just been left to rot after the games.
