Humanity has always been given a higher status than religion. But, recently, numerous religious fanatics have gone gaga over religion and started spreading violence instead of peace that inadvertently every religion teaches. Something that should be learnt from these young Muslims from Thane is how religion should never come between humanity. A group of Muslim youths carried out the funeral rites of Waman Kadam, a 65-year-oldHindu watchman, whose sons and relatives refused to take care of him.
When his two sons, from his first wife, and relatives were reluctant to come over late at night for help, Vitava requested the youths to help her cremate him. So Khalil Pawne, Fahad Dabir, Nawaz Dabir, Rahil Dabir, Shaban Khan, Maqsood Khan, Farooque Khan, Mohammad Kasam Shaikh – set out to look for a pandit to conduct the funeral rituals.
“My husband would never have thought that his last journey would be with so much honour. There were 40-odd Muslim youths in the funeral procession. We have known them since they were knee high; now, they turned out to be sensitive and responsible adults,” said Vitava. (sic.)
Well, his son did come to light the pyre, but it was these young Muslims who collected the ashes.
We have always been taught to be with people in their times of need- but we are with them in their happy times, but when they are hi by something catastrophic, we tend to leave them making excuses. Why?
These youth have taught us that nothing, absolutely nothing especially religion should be a barrier between humans.
