Celebrity chef & heartthrob,Vikas Khanna served PepsiCo worldwide head,Indra Nooyi,a breakfast that would make her nostalgic about her childhood- Vikas served her pink appams,for breakfast at Vasantha Bhavan,an eatery in Chennai, a day before Onam.
celebrity-chefAppams are prepared from fermented rice batter and coconut milk and is white to golden-brown around the edges,but Vikas added his signature oats,urad dal and bajre ka atta, along with beetroot juice,that turned the appams pink.

“I used beetroot juice to make the batter, and a little bit of milk, and also made pesarattu,the green gram pancake from Andhra Pradesh, idli – usually made with urad dal and rice — with oats.

“Oats is my invisible superhero. It blends beautifully with anything — as simply as water — and adds to the nutrient value of the dish.Kisi cheez ko achchha karna hai,ek mutthi oats dal do” said Vikas.
