Happiness is a word which everyone in their life .Who doesn’t want to be happy? It is a rather mental state or form of our mind which is our goal of our every movement. Our each and every activity leads to happiness directly or indirectly. There is nothing called hate in life. The only thing which makes difference is the presence or absence of happiness.
For someone making money is happiness, while for someone playing music is. So it clearly reveals that happiness is not some destination to be reached, but it is a state of mind which is in our hands- an option whether you want to happy or not. We merely run for the big gadgets or long for cars but with this misconception that it will make us happy. But the fact is a sudden rain or a sudden song in radio will give you a thousand fold more happiness just like our childhood memories make us happiest.
Now with a little difference, let us see what the great philosopher, Aristotle said about happiness- But what is happiness? It is by understanding the distinctive function of a thing that one can understand its essence. Thus, one cannot understand what it is to be a gardener unless one can understand that the distinctive function of a gardener is ‘to tend to a garden with a certain degree of skill’. Whereas human beings need nourishment just like plants and have sentience like animals, their distinctive function, says Aristotle, is their unique capacity to reason. Thus the Supreme Good, or Happiness, is to lead a life that enables us to use and to develop our reason, and that is in accordance with rational principles. In contrast to amusement or pleasure which can also be enjoyed by animals, happiness is not a state but an activity, and it is profound and enduring.
Aristotle acknowledges that our good or bad fortunesdo play a part in determining our happiness; for instance, he acknowledges that happiness can be affected by such factors as our material circumstances, our place in society, and even our looks. Yet he maintains that by living our life to the fullest, according to our essential nature as rational beings, we are bound to become happy regardless. For this reason, happiness is more of a question of behavior and of habit—of ‘virtue’—than of luck; a person who cultivates such behaviors and habits is able to bear his misfortunes with equanimity, and thus can never be said to be truly unhappy.
Even the lord Gautam Buddha once said “There is no Path to the happiness, Happiness is the path”. Your deep depression, frustration, big economical pressure can be washed away just by an innocent smile of a baby. So don’t run away from being happy – instead, wait, take a deep breathe, feel the wind and walk, with a smile.
In this lighting fast society we don’t have time for anything. We are constantly busy making money for ourselves, but only when the time passes, we look back- but what we all remember is the time we wasted intentionally for things that never mattered.
Your mom’s hug or walking – holding your dad’s finger or a fight with your sister are the true happiness that our lives give us- and unfortunately it is moments such as these that we hardly give any important or thought- until we have truly lost the time.
So steal a moment or two from this bribed life of us and first- love yourself and then love those around you for whom your presence truly matters, before it really is too late .
