Birth marks, are various conditions that a child is born with. Be it reddish or purplish bruise like marks under the skin, or maybe pigmented patches, mostly brown (hyper-pigmented) or sometimes, colorless patches (hypo-pigmented) on skin. According to many scholars, some birth marks reveal how the person died in their previous birth or it is emotionally related to the person’s past.

birth-marks1MilliAnna, a 18 month old girl, has inherited a unique birth mark from her mother, Brianna Worthy, 23, from Ridgeland, South Carolina who in turn inherited it from her mother- the birth mark is a streak of white hairs on the crown and skin around it. This condition is called poliosis, which renders some part of hair colorless and the skin surrounding it pigment-less. Baby MilliAnna is the 4th generation in her family to have the birth mark, which is also visible on her grandmother, Jennifer- 41, and also her great-grandmother, Jaonne – 59.

birth-marks2Brianna said: ‘We are unsure how far back the birthmark goes as my grandmother was adopted as a child and hasn’t met her biological family. I was hoping she did have it. My younger sister that my mother had a few years after me didn’t get it, so I didn’t know if MilliAnna was going to, but once I had her and they laid her on my chest and I saw she had it I was so happy.’

birth-marks3Brianna hopes her daughter will embrace her uniqueness as she gets older. ‘I plan to raise my daughter knowing she is beautiful and special and to not listen to people mean comments at times.
