Skin types are not the same. What works on one skin, may not work on other- this is a tried & tested rule on various cosmetics. Some skin needs only minimal nourishment, while others require constant attention round the clock. Dry skins are especially problematic in winters, when they start flaking and hurting due to lack of moisture. Use of soaps is one of the primary cause that causes dry skin, and this is even true in the case of using moisturizing soaps- use of shower gels is the only option that remains in these cases.

skin-needs-nourishmentEven the use of face washes sometimes renders the skin extreme dry, that even after applying moisturizer, they tend to go dry after some time. The trick is to use the face wash such that it only removes the oil and dirt, but doesn’t lather up much that it even soaks out the essential oils produced by the skin.

The most important tips in caring for dry skin are:

Keep baths or showers short with warm water or normal water. Do not use hot water.

Try avoiding soaps and try using shower gels or use as little soap as possible. Use only a mild cleanser for your face and avoid aggressive scrubbing.

Avoid bathing frequently in the day, especially with harsh soaps, as it may contribute to dry skin.
