Is Gravity the same Every-where? Or Do Some Places have High and/ or Low Gravity?

As Earth is spherical, logically, the gravity would be distributed similarly throughout; Logical? Isn’t?  But it isn’t so. .  There are places that have a high gravitational pull (in theory- Bermuda Triangle)or low gravitational pull, for Eg., Churchill, Manitoba a small village in Canada.

So, how is that gravity works? What is gravity?

Gravity is the natural force which pulls or attracts any object or a body having mass towards the centre of the earth. But, researchers, for many years have observed that gravity is a bit less in this small town of Manitoba- in Churchill, where you have roads, but there are no roads to Churchill or from it; so the only way to go to this curious little town is to either fly in and out, or take a train, or sail a boat across the Hudson Bay.

what-is-gravityResearchers have been working out for over 40 years on these areas since; things are a bit off from the basic gravity, as in they are trying to find out the bizarre reasons of the missing gravity, which was first identified in the year 1960s when the Earth’s global gravity was charted.

how-is-gravity-worksOne theory suggests on convection occurring in the Earth’s mantle, which drags the Earth’s continental plates down, while decreasing the mass & gravity in the area; while other theory is that of the already melted Laurentide Ice Sheet that disappeared 10,000 years ago, leaving a deep indentation in the Earth. Scientists in the Harvard-Smithsonian Centre were amazed with the data provided by the GRACE satellites on many ice sheets and glaciers.
