We have bid adieu to one of the most exciting and “adventurous” and twisty year- 2016. The year saw numerous ups and downs, surprises- in brief, it was definitely a year filled with roller coaster ride!

Let’s have a look at 10 best movies produced by Bollywood in the last year- movies that made us think, introspect and those that had the best direction and screenplay.

1.Airlift:
Airlift is the story of Indians stranded in Kuwait during this traumatic time. A story of how they, with the help of Ranjit Katyal,managed to survive the Iraqi invasion, and against all odds traveled a thousand kilometres across the border into Amman,Jordan.

2.Aligarh:
Set in a city of Uttar Pradesh and based on true events, the plot revolves around Dr Shrinivas Ramchandra Siras(played by Manoj Bajpayee),who taught Marathi at Aligarh Muslim University. He was suspended from his position of Chairman of the linguistic department, on charges of homosexuality.

3.Dangal:
Plot Summary. Biopic of Mahavir Singh Phogat,who taught wrestling to his daughters Babita Kumari and Geeta Phogat.Geeta Phogat was India’s first female wrestler to win at the 2010 Commonwealth Games, where she won the gold medal (55 kg) while her sister Babita Kumari won the silver (52 kg).

4.Dear Zindagi:
Kaira is a budding cinematographer in search of a perfect life. Her encounter with Jug, an unconventional thinker, helps her gain a new perspective on life. She discovers that happiness is all about finding comfort in life’s imperfections.

5.Fan:
FAN is the story of Gaurav (Shah Rukh Khan) a young man, 20 something, whose world revolves around the mega movie star Aryan Khanna (Shah Rukh Khan) or God as he refers to him. From the by lanes of Delhi, young Gaurav embarks on a journey to the city of dreams, Mumbai, in order to wish his God on his birthday.

6.Kapoor & Sons:
A story revolving around a dysfunctional family of 2 brothers who visit their family and discover that their parents marriage is on the verge of collapse, the family is undergoing a financial crunch and much more as the drama unfolds.

7.Ki & Ka:
Indian romantic drama film written, directed, and produced by R. Balki. The film follows a young, married couple contradicting the gender roles placed upon women and men in Indian society. It stars Kareena Kapoor and Arjun Kapoor.

8.Madaari:
A mysterious man with a tragic past (Irrfan as Nirmal Kumar) kidnaps the son (Vishesh Bansal as Rohan) of Home Minister Prashant Godwami(Tushar Dalvi) from Dehradun.

9.Nil Battey Sannata
Appu is a class 10th student and is giving up on studies, because she knows her mother will not be able to provide for her higher studies. Her mother tries hard and even enrolled her for maths tuition but Appu thinks only children of rich parents become doctors or engineers and believes she’ll end up being a maid too like her mother. But one day her mother gets a chance to continue her Education.

10.Pink:
Deepak is a lawyer suffering from bipolar disorder who experiences frequent mood swings. One night, Rajveer and his friends get drunk and try to molest Miss Arora and her two roommates leading to an accident. The film revolves around how Deepak fights the girls’ case against these influential boys.

11. Udta Punjab:
A story that revolves around drug abuse in the affluent north Indian State of Punjab and how the youth there have succumbed to it en-masse resulting in a socio-economic decline.
