The incident took place in Hyderabad when police arrested a man after he sent a postcard with triple talaq to his second wife even after being legally married to his first wife.
The 38-year old, Mohammed Haneef is charged for harassing and cheating on his wife. The man accused his wife being dominant in nature. He revealed that his wife, Farheed who is 26 years old has insulted him on the following day of their wedding ceremony. The fight was so ugly that the man consumed mosquito repellant after which he was rushed to a nearby hospital.
On the eighth day of the marriage, Haneef sent a postcard to his newly wedded wife with the words of ‘triple talaq’.
Farheed filed a complaint against her husband on March 30th after which Haneef was arrested and charged under the IPC sections of 417, 420, and 498. He is under judicial custody for about two weeks as per informed by one of the sub-inspectors of Bhavani Nagar police station.
Triple talaq has already been considered as unconstitutional as per the statement of Allahabad High Court in 2016. Even the high court confirms that the concept of triple talaq violates the human rights and no personal law should be placed above the constitutional laws.
