Every year, the first day of month May is celebrated as May Day. It is also popularly known as International Workers’ Day. It is a celebration of laborers and working classes. In the late nineteenth century, the congress of the Second International performed a general strike for the 8 hours workday. Later, they called for people from all around the world to protest globally for the same cause on May 1, 1890. Now, the day is celebrated as Labour Day in several countries.
