To supercharge the Prime Minister’s initiative of “Swachh Bharat Abhiyan”, the government has surveyed 73 cities of India, in the year 2016, which are populated with more 10 Lac residents. This survey has covered 22 state capitals of India. The mission of the survey was to measure the cleanliness in cities and to analyze which are the cities where Swachh Bharat Abhiyan is being followed firmly. The list is announced by the Urban Development Minister, Venkaiah Naidu.
Mysore in Karnataka has secured the first position in this cleanliness race and is followed by Chandigarh which is followed by Tiruchirapalli in Tamil Nadu. New Delhi is not so far away as it is resting just after the top 3 contenders of the list. After the last ranking, Visakhapatnam in Andhra Pradesh and Surat, Rajkot of Gujrat has really improved its cleanliness system as all the three has got their way to this list. Besides all these, Gangtok in Sikkim, Pimpri Chinchwad and Greater Mumbai in Maharashtra are also present on this cleanliness list.
Though according to the list, Dhanbad in Jharkhand is the least clean city of all 73 cities. Other 9 bottom contenders include Asansol in West Bengal, Itanagar in Arunachal Pradesh, Patna in Bihar, Meerut in Uttar Pradesh, Raipur in Chhattisgarh, Ghaziabad in Uttar Pradesh, Jamshedpur in Jharkhand, Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh and Kalyan Dombivili in Maharashtra. Do not forget that Varanasi is the PM Modi’s Lok Sabha constituency.
In the year 2016, Mysore has ranked first on India’s cleanest cities. Previously, the survey was performed on 476 cities with the population more than 1 Lac. Also, last year, Mysore is renowned as the City of Palaces.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Swachh Bharat Abhiyan is focused on raising the awareness of cleanliness and its co-relation with our health.
