Tawa Paratha is a common recipe in Indian restaurants served with the main course. This paratha is made with flour and ghee( clarified butter). It is a simple recipe that can be served with side dish of your choice. Now prepare this paratha at your home very easily.
Ingredients
1 cup Whole Wheat flour
1/2 teaspoon Salt
Cooking oil, for kneading
Ghee, or oil for cooking
Directions
1.In a large bowl add flour, salt, a tablespoon of oil and knead and add a little water at a time to make a firm and smooth dough.
2.Add one tablespoon of oil to coat the dough and knead again and cover it with a moist cloth and set it aside for 15 minutes.
3.After 15 min knead once again and divide the dough into equal portions.
4.Preheat the iron skillet on medium flame and roll the dough portions into balls and flatten them with the palm of your hand.
5.Toss them in flour and roll them out into circles of approximately 3 inches in diameter and put ¼ teaspoon oil and spread it on the rolled dough.
6.As this paratha should be in a triangle shape so, first fold into a semi-circle, then fold the semi-circle in half again and at last you will get a mini triangle shape.
7.Toss the triangle shaped dough on a little flour, roll it out gently into a larger triangle.
8.With skillet on medium high flame, place one rolled out paratha on the skillet and after a few seconds, you will notice air pockets popping out.
9.At this point flip the plain paratha and smear about 1/2 a teaspoon of ghee and use a flat spatula and lightly press and turn in the motion to cook to the paratha.
10.Flip to the other side and press and turn the paratha in a similar way and you will notice brown spots around the parathas and it will be slightly crisp.
11.Switch off the flame and place on a serving platter.
12.Serve the Tawa Paratha with palak paneer.
