1) Wait for everyone to arrive before you are seated

You may have come across many restaurants that request you wait before you are seated because it comes under their policy, but also remember to wait for your loved ones to arrive before you are seated. It is just a way of being polite towards your guest and yes, it is a good gesture.

2) Remember to place napkins on your lap

Once you are seated, it is always better to take your napkin and place it on your lap. You don’t want to dirty or stain your beautiful outfit. So this is another basic rule of dining to place napkins while you are eating. Once you are done with your meal, you can leave the napkins on the table and if you want to use the restroom in the middle, you can leave them on your chair and excuse yourself.

3) Don’t keep your mobile phone on the dining table

This is one of the most annoying things people do and they don’t realize the level of importance they are giving to that device when they are with another guest. Remember not to keep your phones on the table and avoid making any calls or sending messages, because they can wait. It is disrespectful. So, mind that next time.

4) Wait until everyone else is served before you start eating

This is one of the most common mistakes many people make by eating their food before everyone else is being served. Its bad manners. Waiting for 2 minutes wont kill you! Make sure that you first wait until everyone else is served and then you can start eating your meal.

5) Never call your waiter by whistling

Make sure that you always call your waiter by giving them a silent signal. It shows respect and decency when you do that. Try to make an eye contact with them when they are passing by or simply raise your hand.

6) Tell your waiter in advance before splitting your paycheck

If you are a large group and you are planning on telling the waiter to bring the paycheck, let him know in advance as to how you are planning on splitting the money. It is for your own good, so that the waiter can keep a track of who is ordering what and they can prepare a list accordingly.

7) Learn to give good tips

Giving a tip is equal to giving them a gesture of thanking them for their service. Remember to tip well if you feel that the waiter deserves it! Be generous enough and be a smart diner on following these rules.
