Airlines is an industry where so many incidents happen. With so much pressure in handling the passenger, many times one two incidents are reported where the management is not at fault yet, the passengers blame them for the mishap. Air India is known not only for its “fly-safe” slogan but there are many incidents with regard to passengers.

Apparently, a woman slapped an Air India manager on duty at the Indira Gandhi International Airrport in New Delhi. Why? Because she was denied boarding as she arrived late at the counter. The woman passenger had to board an Air India aircraft to Ahemdabad. She checked-in late at the counter and later she was denied boarding because she was late for her flight.

“A lady passenger had to board Air India Flight No AI 019 to Ahmedabad at 0500 hrs. She reported at 0418 hrs for check-in and was denied boarding. An argument started between her and the Air India lady staff. The passenger then slapped her. The lady staff in retaliation also slapped her… Later, both parties compromised and did not want any action,” said DCP, Airport, Sanjay Bhatia.

The lady passengers husband who is a senior bureaucrat from the Haryana Government was presently in Gujarat for election duty and in an interview with the Hindustan Times he stated that his wife had been standing in the queue and on reaching the counter, the staff closed it.

“They should have checked for how long passenger was waiting in the queue. They misbehaved and provoked my wife,” he said.

While the argument was going on the Delhi Police got a call that there is an incident taking place at the Terminal 3 junction.

Later the duo compromised and did not want to take any action on each other and the woman also departed for Ahemdabad on the next flight.

Because there are so many incidents happening where the passengers are misbehaving with the management, the aviation ministry issued a policy introducing the “no-fly list” where the passengers can face a minimum 3 month ban from flying and that can also extend upto a lifetime causing any disturbance to the staff on duty or the aircraft.

There are certain ground rules that every airline follows. Air India check-in counters usually close 45 minutes prior for domestic flights and 75 minutes before for international flights. Accordingly, the passengers traveling in domestic flights have to report 75 minutes before the departure of their flight and the international passengers have to report 150 minutes before their scheduled departure time.
