It was via Facebook, that the helpfulness of a group of strangers not only helped a girl, R. Swathi and her mother reach Coimbatore from Chennai on 8 August but also made sure that her seat wasn’t cancelled. It so happened that they had to go to Anna Arangam Tamil Nadu Agriculture University in Coimbatore for a counselling session ahead of the admissions, however, she and her mother landed up at Anna University in Chennai by mistake.
It was when they started asking for directions they realized that they landed in a different city altogether and were about to give up hope when they received an unexpected and a miraculous help. A group of people, called “Twalkers” not only arranged Flight tickets, conveyance and breakfast for the women They shared the cost of the plane tickets – Rs. 10,500 – between them but also spoke to the registrar of the college about the incident who made sure that Swathi got a chance and was then offered admission to the college.
“The sponsor of the flight tickets flew them by the 10:05 AM Coimbatore flight and arrangements were made to pick them up at Coimbatore airport at 11:40 AM by car and they reached the University counselling by 12:15 pm,” says the Facebook post.
“It was nothing short of miracle,” Swathi said the reporters and her mother added that “We want to repay the money they spent to buy our flight tickets and other conveyance charges. How else can we thank them?”
