1975 movie ‘Sholay’ was a Bollywood cult classic movie, which completes its 40 years on August 15, has lived beyond its age and time. The songs, fight sequences and the iconic dialogues are still fresh in the minds of viewers. Honestly, the dialogues have been fed into our subconscious mind line by line, word to word.

A Ramesh Sippy directorial, ‘Sholay’ starred megastar Amitabh Bachchan and Dharmendra in the lead roles and as the iconic ‘Jai and Veeru’, who were petty criminals. Another iconic character ‘Thakur’ was played by late Sanjeev Kumar. Hema Malini and Jaya Bachchan played Veeru and Jai’s love interests respectively.

Also, ‘Sholay’ gave Hindi cinema one of its most iconic villains of all time ‘Gabbar Singh’ very aptly played by then debutante late Amjad Khan.
