Subhasini Mistry got married in an early age of 12. When she reached 23, her husband passed away due to lack of good treatment for an illness. Her story may resemble with many such cases.
We hear and see, many people born in poor family and due to lack of money for proper treatment, they lose their dearest one.
But the incident changed Subhasini and she decided that she would not let anyone else face the kind of difficulties she had to face due to lack of healthcare.
For the next 20 years, she dreamt of one thing and that was building a hospital. In order to accomplish the dream, she washed dishes, polished shoes, worked as construction laborer and even sold vegetables.
Each penny, she got was invested in her dream hospital.
Her dream was well understood by his eldest son whom she had sent to orphanage due to lack of money. Now Ajoy, her eldest son is a doctor.
Ajoy along with another volunteer doctor were few who started to work in the hospital and regularly attended to around 252 patients. At that the hospital had no proper furnish and people were treated in a small temporary shed.
Now spread over three acres, the ‘Humanity Hospital’ has the best of doctors and medical equipments. Major surgeries are done for less than Rs. 5000 and minor ailments are treated for less than or equal to Rs.10.
Today Ajoy and his three siblings take care of the hospital, while Subhasini is busy spending time with her grandchildren.
