We all have adapted to electronic voting systems due to ease of voting and it being technologically advanced and safe. But, in America, paper ballots are still prevalent to elect their president. This is primarily because they feel it is safer to use paper ballots than electronic ones and the upgrading costs for the electronic voting machines are high.
Considering, Americans use electronic devices for banking, transport, health care and other things, them resorting to use the old-school methods for voting is honestly weird.
And by paper ballot, we do not mean the usual paper, where they cast their votes, fold it in half and drop it inside the box, rather it is the semi-high-tech optical scan ballot which is marked by the voter and processed by the optical scanner to organize the votes.
Electronic voting machines still have their advantages and are not cumbersome, but they can be hacked and without proper security they can be tampered with as well but paper ballots, being secretive and identical are fool proof and safe- for electing the desired candidate.
