Ayurveda has laid guidelines for something, which we thought we had no method: Drinking Water. Just as we have a proper method of eating, there is a way to drink water to help our body thrive.
The way you drink water can seriously be a life changer.
Know the Ayurvedic Style of Drinking water:
1. First, sit down to drink, just as you sit down to eat.
2. Take sips, not full-glass chugs. Sit, sip, and breathe.Repeat.
3. Sip Water throughout the day as the body will not absorb all of it when you drink full glass chugs.
4. Drink water at room temperature. Warm water is also preferable. Cold and iced water douse the digestive fire.
5. While eating, sip the water as too much of intake will not allow the digestive action to take place. Remember this: Eat 50%, fill with 25% of water and remaining 25% should be left for digestive action to take place.
6. For the same above reason avoid drinking plenty of water before or after meals.
7. Drink when you are thirsty. It is a natural urge that cautions you that your body needs water.
8. The rule, which says, “Drink eight glasses of water” does not apply to everybody. Everyone has their own built in measuring system: thirst. When you feel thirsty, drink water. When you listen to thirst cues, sip water and you will be giving the adequate amount of water to your body.
9. The colour of your urine will indicate whether you are amply hydrated. It should be fairly clear and straw coloured.
10. Your lips are another indicator. If they are dry, it means you are dehydrated.
The rules are very straightforward and they might make a serious difference in our lives if we practice them.
