A Senegalese Paris/NYC model, Khoudia Diop also nick named as the Daughter of the Night, calls herself The Melanin Goddess; and rightly so- because of her uncharacteristic dark charcoal colored skin tone which she proudly and confidently embraced. She proudly made “Black is Beautiful” saying truer than ever!
The fashion world- unconsciously had to look back and turn its head-
once this young confident woman walked by and rose to fame. She has inadvertently become an inspiration to many dark colored young women, who still struggle with their skin tone, hoping for a fairer tone. Khoudia, has inspired many with her refusal for bleaching and growing comfortable in her skin.
Khoudia, was featured in The Colored Girl campaign that celebrates women of color with a belief to bust the strong notion that light colored skin is more attractive than dark colored . The project has done a photo-shoot with women of varying skin tones in which she stands out with her dark and beautiful skin.
She has been given many names, but the ones she loved are “Darky”, “Daughter of the Night” and “Mother of Stars”
