Carnival in Rio de Janeiro is an annual festival which is also the world’s biggest carnival with the efficiency of 2 million people celebrating it on the roads of Rio de Janeiro. It all started in 1723 when immigrants from the Portuguese islands of Açores, Madeira and Cabo Verde moved to Brazil. The carnival was organized with the primary thought of all the people being able to mingle with each other. Then, people were allowed to go out on streets with the buckets, water, and lemons to attack anyone on the streets. Even the kings used to participate in this carnival.
Well, with each passing year, the carnival improvised itself. Now, the Carnival in Rio de Janeiro is all about samba dance, street parades, colors, and a lot of fun. The street carnival is loaded with extravagant music and dance moves. There is no restriction on whom should be a part of this carnival and whom should not. Anyone who is interested in being a part of the carnival can join in.
The highlighted feature of the Carnival in Rio de Janeiro is the Brazilian dance. It represents the African glimpse in it. The exclusive dance form of this carnival, samba is still untouched (or not corrupted) by the western culture. It is still authentic as it was used to be.
The Carnival in Rio de Janeiro starts on Friday and remains till Wednesday but the winners of the carnival parade on Saturday just after the end of the carnival. It usually happens in the month of February. And, the tickets for this carnival won’t cost you more than Rs. 5 to 500.
And, before we finish this article, you should be well-informed with the name of this year’s winners. So, this year’s carnival happens between February 24 to March 1, 2017. And, the title of Queen of Carnival 2017 was won by Uillana Adães who was followed by Joice Rocha who was the first princess of this year’s carnival. While the second princess crown bagged by Deisiane Conceição.
