Dudhsagar Falls, which translates to Sea of Milk is a four-tiered waterfall on the Mandovi River in Goa. Situated about 60 km away Panaji on the Madgaon-Belgaum rail route.
Dudhsagar Falls is amongst India’s tallest waterfalls with a height of 310 m(1017 feet) and an average width of 30 metres (100 feet).
Other lower half of Dudhsagar Falls is located in the Bhagwan Mahaveer Sanctuary and in Mollem National Park amongst the Western Ghats, forming a border between Karnataka and Goa and surrounded by deciduous forests and although the falls are not significant during the dry season but during monsoons however, the falls form a huge force of water.
The nearest railway station accessible to the falls is Castle Rock station. Visitors could get in a train from here and disembark at the Dudhsagar stop, which is a short 1-2 minute unscheduled stop.
From here, visitors walk about a kilometer to arrive at the falls, there is a 200 m train tunnel that is totally dark which makes the walk a bit tougher.
No availability of fresh drinking water nor clean rest rooms anywhere in the purlieu of the falls and absolutely no access cellular signal and road transport at this location is something that can cause inconvenience
