We are all aware of the food chain, and the need for survival for creatures of all sizes and purposes. Michael Bustos, who owns an ant farm, posted a video of the moment when a mother cockroach fights hungry fire ants for survival, but she ended up spontaneously giving birth.
In the video, Bustos, who normally kills the prey before he feeds it to his ants, but due to public interest, he tried giving a live prey- he drops in an adult female cockroach into the fire ants tank- but what happened next shocked him till no end.
Sensing danger, the cockroach bolts in the lethal direction, thereby falling even deeper into the nest. Standing no chance of survival, she is quickly paralyzed. It is then that the female
cockroach begins to give birth … by pushing out a giant egg sac- Which confused the ants, who didn’t know what to do with this egg sac- immediately following the “expulsion” of the sac, baby cockroaches begin to emerge from the sac- bring vulnerable and delicate, they are quickly immobilized by ants and carried off deeper into the nest for future consumption.
“I was in complete awe of the drama that was happening within this ant nest,” says Bustos, noting that he “couldn’t help but feel an enormous amount of guilt” after having set up the deadly encounter.
