Henna, has many beneficial properties, and as discussed in our previous article, Henna is one of the most safest and also the most preferred way of hair coloring in many cultures. Henna being organic product, it hardly has any side effects, but then it depends on person to person.
In this post, we will discuss henna hair mix for hair conditioning and strengthening.
Ingredients:
Herbal Henna
½ tsp. lime juice or vinegar or 3 tbsp. curd/yogurt
1 egg white (optional)
2 tbsp. instant coffee powder
Green/chamomile/black tea
Mix Herbal Powder (1tbsp. Manjistha Powder+1 tbsp. Bhringraj + 3 tbsp. Amla Powder + 1 tbsp. Shikakai Powder)
How to Proceed:
1.Add henna in an iron or plastic vessel (Iron helps in faster oxidation), gently add the tea decoction and mix it properly with a spoon or gloved hand. Now add the coffee and herbal powders- Amla, Manjistha, Shikakai, Bhringraj Powders, which are readily available in super markets or in ayurvedic shops.
2.After mixing, when henna achieves beaten yogurt like consistency, cover and keep it in a dark and warm place over night or for minimum 6 hours.
3.Before applicationput on hand gloves and cover the floor in the bathroom/room with newspapers to avoid staining from the fallen henna. And also apply some petroleum jelly/ coconut oil on your hair line, ears, and protect your clothing.
4.Add yogurt, egg white only before application, else the mix will start giving off rotten egg odor.
5.Divide your hairs into sections, and with the use of hair brush apply the henna mix onto the sectionals and apply the henna, and pulling up hairs in a bun after the application.
6.Now, cover your hair with the shower cap and let the henna seep in your hair shaft for about 3-4 hours.
7.After the intended time is up, carefully lower your head and pull your hairs in front of you and start running water through them to remove henna. After most of the henna is out, you can shampoo your hair with any shampoo to help in easy removing of the remaining dried chunks and condition your hair- even if henna has conditioning properties, its always good to condition. Let your hair dry naturally. No use of any heat treatments to dry the hair.
8.You will have the characteristic smell of henna for about 2 days, but that will fade at the earliest. And the color takes about 3 days to deepen, and would probably show only after 3 days.
Keep watching this space, as more amazing mixes are yet to come.
