Plants and trees are one of the important “thing” to be kept in our homes according to astrology and Vaastu. They not only add an element of beauty to in homes but also help in cleansing the air. Hence, there should be an effort into choosing the right sort of plants as not many plants follow the vastushastra, and these plants can bring adverse effects to the residents. There are also plants that are considered sacred but these plants are not to be planted at homes, instead should be planted at temples. Plants like Banyan and Peepal fall under these categories. Types of Plants in Homes:
Basil plant:
Basil plant, also called Tulsi is a plant which is highly respected. It must be kept in the North, East or North-east directions. This has versatile medicinal properties and helps us against cold and cough, throat infections, acne, fever, various skin infections and helps increasing immunity.
Bamboo
Bamboo is a plant that is indicator of luck and peace and brings home fame and wealth. People these days opt for Bonsai version of bamboo plants as they can be placed easily and everywhere due to space constraints in homes.
Money plant
Many plant is another revered plant and is considered lucky as this planet leads to rise in income and wealth. This plant should be placed in either the north or the east direction.
Coconut and Ashoka tree
Coconut and Ashok trees should be placed in the courtyard of the house. It is believed that the Ashoka and Coconut trees helps remove sufferings and grief and brings joy.
Banana tree
Planting of Banana tree is still in debate as few astrologists consider it to be auspicious while few although agree that it is auspicious it shouldn’t be planted in the homes as they fruit only once. So people argue that this tree is to be planted in temples only. But, if there is a Banana tree in the home, it should be there in the Northeast direction of the house. It signifies good health and mental peace. Banana tree is considered very sacred and is even worshipped on Thursdays by people worshipping Lord Vishnu.
Neem tree
Neem tree esteemed for its high medicinal value, is also considered sacred as it generated high positivity. It should be planted in the Noth-west corner of the courtyard.
Plants in Kitchen:
Mint, Coriander and Green-chillies are the plants that should be grown in our kitchens. These have high health benefits and are highly revered as per Vaastu-Shastra.
