Indian Railways, very commonly known for it’s hustle-bustle and rush, there is also an unspoken beauty to it, which was felt, observed and captured by Bijaya Biswal, a Train Ticket Examiner in the Nagpur division.
Biswal who has had a penchant for painting is commonly known for his brush strokes said, “I have been painting with charcoal, pens,
water coloursetc since the very young age of five or six”.
In a series of water colour paintings, he brought out concealed appeals and beauty of the railway junctions.
These paintings were shared by the Salem Division of Southern Railways on their Facebook page and his art quickly went viral.
“I don’t think I need to get away from my job to pursue art. My job allows me to travel and observe the platforms, trains, employment of people around it and so many other things which I try to capture in my art work.”Said Biswal.
Biswal, who has been working with the Railways for the past 25 years also said he has no plans of leaving his employment to pursue art as he already is pursuing it.
