You may have heard about hundreds of stories about drink and drive cases and also unique stories of alcoholism, but have you ever heard a drunk person mistaking an “Audi car” for “Ambulance” and driving it for 13 kms and then realizing that its not his car?! Well, this is a bizarre incident and yes, it has happened!
Believe it or not, on Sunday, a businessman residing in Chennai was driving with his friend to the hospital since he had some injuries. So, after that while returning back home, the man just took the Maruti Omni which had keys left inside, so he just sat and drove until he reached his house at Palavakkam which is 13kms from Thousand Lights area and he did not know how he got into this ambulance and mistook it for his Audi car which he accidentally left in the hospital premises.
Apparently, around 3am in the morning the hospital staff saw that there was an ambulance missing so they informed the Thousand Lights area police station and, then they saw a man driving back the missing ambulance to the hospital. When asked, he stated that his boss had mistaken the identity for his Audi car and that’s the reason he drove back to return the vehicle back.
The hospital management thought that it was a theft so they reported the police. According to the statements given by the police department they said, “Just then a man drove the ambulance into the hospital and profusely apologized saying his boss, a businessman, had mistakenly driven it home.”
The staff noticed that a side mirror in the ambulance was damaged, but the driver agreed to compensate for it and left in his boss’ Audi. “The hospital didn’t want to pursue the case,” said the officer.
Mistakes can happen and they are bound to happen. The hospital was still unsure if the businessman was drunk, so they decided not to lodge any complain against him.
