Forgetting a bad memory! It sounds quite strange because whatever we have seen or experienced is stored in there, in our brains. How could anyone just delete a piece of information from his/her active brain? But, don’t you remember those times when you have thoroughly prepared yourself for exams? Those exam related words seem like a sticky note for our mind. Yes, a sticky note, because you won’t remember it for the rest of your life. You flush that piece of information just after you are done with the examination. In this post, we will enlighten your brain with all the possible ways to get rid of that memory which hurts you again and again.
Getting Rid of A Bad Memory
1Discard The Mental Context
A study suggests that you can delete a bad memory if you could delete the context through which you have gained that memory. If we have a mental context active in our brain related to that memory then it is impossible to delete that memory. So, if you want to get rid of that hurting memory then delete the context first. For an instance, if you genuinely want to remove the memories of your past relationship then there must be a mental context which is not letting you do it. It could be your ex-lover or a thing that reminds you of that memory. Get rid of it and you won’t feel like that again. Your memories can’t hurt you.
2Build New Memories
If the same memory can be repeated in several other rooms or locations then your brain will hold on to a memory which is good in quality. You will be able to recall tidbits of memories from all the location but if there is a low mean memory among the other healthy memories then that bad memory will have a less effect on you.
So, now you know, ‘how to get rid of that bad memory?’. Just delete the mental context and you will be free from the burden. Keep your happy with healthy memories and flush those memories which affect you badly.
