As per personal experiences of people, Karnataka has scored the first position on the list of corrupted states. Bribing for public services is common among all the others corruption related issues. An NGO has conducted a study which covered 20 states of India. The report concluded that Karnataka is the most corrupted state of India while Himachal Pradesh, Kerala, and Chhattisgarh are the least corrupted states. Karnataka is then followed by the states Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, Jammu & Kashmir, and Punjab.
The survey took place on 3,000 different people from both rural and urban areas. The survey concluded that one-third of the houses faced the issue of corruption during the span of past one year. This usually happens in public sector. Well, more than half of participants of the survey agreed upon the decrease in the level of corruption. This decrement started just after the demonetization phase of the year 2016.
The survey has also revealed that the total bribe paid by the residents of all the 20 states only after covering 10 public services is Rs 6,350 crore in 2017 vs Rs 20,500 crore in the year 2005. But, still, there are miles to go before reaching to the title of corruption free country.
