There are numerous jobs in the world. Mostly people opt for changing their passion into their career, while some are merely looking out for a source of income. Here we have rounded up 11 of the most dangerous jobs in the world that has high fatality rate on-job.
1. Astronauts:
Although this does seem like a dream job to many in our childhood, since the beginning of the Russian and American space programs about 430 astronauts have gone to space. With 34 deaths that is a 7.5% mortality rate which is significantly higher than many other professions.
2. Carpenters
Carpenters do have the toughest of jobs with time limitations and other factors. A broken hip, collar bone, dislocated shoulder, being shot by the nail gun accidentally are just some of the ways they can be injured severely.
3. Cops:
Unfortunately cops aren’t known to be common people’s friends for their strict rules and them being infamous due to rampant corruption, but many of these cops do risk their lives many times and do their duty unknown to public.
4. e-Waste Recyclers:
Working with broken systems, laptops and their parts, batteries some with chemicals oozing out, that can severely harm their respiratory system and commonly cause various skin problems.
5. Fire-fighters:
From rushing inside a burning building for rescuing peoples stranded even if the building does seem completely decayed, to trying to save people stranded in their houses in heavy rains and storms, these people never have it easy.
6. Metal Crafters:
Dealing with things like heat and metal, these workers typically experience negative health effects in the long term due to inhalation of various chemicals they are exposed to due to crafting.
7. Miners:
There are few jobs that can destroy your health like mining. Besides the long term danger of the black lung there is the constant risk of cave ins or other potentially life stopping situations.
8. Oil & Gas Extraction Workers:
During 2003–2013, the number of work-related fatalities in the oil and gas extraction industry increased 27.6%, with a total of 1,189 deaths.
9. Sanitation Workers:
One of the most dangerous jobs, sanitation workers are regularly exposed to foul smell, poisonous gases and many other hazardous substances while carrying out their day to day job which does have a long term impact on their over all health.
10. Search and Rescue:
Coast Guard facing high seas or a mountain rescue team facing sub-zero temperatures at night or a Disaster Management team working in regions that have been subjected to a catastrophe, S&R teams constantly put their lives in danger.
11. Stunt-Men:
Driving cars recklessly, or jumping off a cliff, over a fire, under-ground stunts, air-borne stunts etc., do sound impressive but they are dangerous as hell as even a small negligence can cause their death or severe injuries.
