Rita Templeton, a regular mom who is doing a fantastic job in raising her kids, has something to say to the world.
She has beautiful sons who are relatively young and hence there are no problem of nudie magazines lying between their sheets or any stealthily accessed porn websites, which exist on their computers and not deleted from their history.
And before such curiosity hits their cerebrum, where they see perfect round structures, thin waistlines, air-brushed, dimple-less butts, she wishes to expose them to a different kind of female body- her own, beautifuland real in its own imperfections.
She implicitly explains the fact that she does not want her sons to live in high expectations after seeing the first images of the impossible perfect physiques, to which no woman could ever live up to. She aims to ensure that her children will not grow up with a skewed perception about a woman’s body.
Despite the fact that she has stretch marks, some flab and is not entirely in love with the postpartum body, she puts it across to her children that these marks and flabs are badges she earned to borne them.
Although it makes her feel uncomfortable at time, Mrs. Templeton does not shy away from changing her clothes in front of her sons, or taking a shower with her door open. She makes it very clear that her boys should have a perception about the female body which is not overtly sexualized and this is the only norm to be followed, not the nipped-tucked-digitally enhanced images they are going to be bombarded with.
In an age obsessed with woman’s bodies, we are bombarded with images of them, usually undressed, lying in nudity in dehumanized pieces and young souls gawking at their impossible beauty.
Isn’t it an awesome parenting strategy to teach our kids that REAL is beautiful and NOT the boobs that are round and firm as cantaloupes and pictures of perfect flawless, airbrushed butts!!
