Muhammad: The Messenger of God, a 2015 Islamic epic Iranian film directed by Majid Majidi is set in the 6thcentury with the story revolving around the childhood of the Islamic Prophet Muhammad. This is Iran’s biggest-budget production film to date with the development beginning in 2007 and the first draft of the screenplay written by 2009. A colossal set was created in the city of Qom near Tehran in 2011 and several scenes were filmed in South Africa.
Throughout the filming, Majidi worked with a team of historians and archaeologists for the work on accuracy of the early life of Prophet Muhammad. The cinematography is done by Vittorio Storaro and film score is composed by A. R. Rahman.

The film is being opposed by various Islamic Organizations saying depicting of Prophet in any physical form is prohibited and various organizations in India has issued a fatwa against the composer A R Rahman for composing music for this film.
The film is still awaiting release in India!
