Nana Patekar and Marathi actor, Makarand Anaspure extend both, psychological and financial help to widows of the farmers who committed suicide due to huge debts. They visited 112 widows in MarathwadaBeed and now they plan to interact 700 more, in the Nagpur, Latur, Hingoli, Parbani, Nanded, Aurangabad, Usmanabad, Jalna, Bhusawal and Jalgaon regions.
Nana is personally in contact with all these families and also the troubled farmers. The actor is also in talks with the state government for implementing all the necessary measures to control suicides. “If we can’t provide farmers their basic right of electricity and water even after 69 years of Independence, they will kill themselves and one day they might kill you,” says a worried Nana.
Nana and Makarand have donated Rs 15,000 to the 62 families in Vidarbha region where farmers have committed suicide. He is not only providing financial assistance, but is also implementing talks between the farmers and Maharastra CM, DevendraFadvanis.
