This is good news for all the twitterati’s who keep tweeting and expressing their thoughts to everyone. Twitter just announced that they are going to increase the word limit from 140 to 280 characters. The reason this is happening is because there are times when people are limited to cut down certain words that are actually important or it conveys an emotion or a feeling that might give strong meanings.

“When people don’t have to cram their thoughts into 140 characters and actually have some to spare, we see more people Tweeting,” the twitter company quoted.
Twitter saw that in a few dialects, for instance Japanese, where you can pass on all the more information in a less number of characters, and people are able to express their thoughts as far as possible than the regular English speakers do. Twitter asserts that tweets sent in Japanese achieve the full 140 character confine only 0.4 percent of the time, compared with tweets in English, which achieve the point of confinement 9 percent of the time.
“Our research shows us that the character limit is a major cause of frustration for people Tweeting in English, but it is not for those Tweeting in Japanese,” the company wrote.
Twitter says it will gather information on how the test goes before pushing the change out to all the people. It won’t give more characters to users tweeting in Japanese, Chinese or Korean, however users who tweet in all others dialects could influence it into the test to gathering.
