Pahlaj Nihalani, after a week of his sacking, has come forward behind the reasons of his sacking and said that clearing Indu Sarkar without cuts was the main reason of his removal as the chief of CBFC, the position who has now been given to adman-lyricist Prasoon Joshi.
While speaking Lehren TV on YouTube, Nihalani even said that her the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting pressurized him not to pass Udta Punjab, the film which was based on Drug racquet in Punjab and was suggested 94 of cuts by the CBFC.
Recent film Lipstick Under My Burkha, too, had to face the brunt of the CBFC which was not cleared by the CBFC and the filmmakers had to approach Film Certification Appellate Tribunal (FCAT) for the release.
Alleging that producer-director Anurag Kashyap always targeted him, Nihalani said that Anurag Kashyap manipulated the board to pass 2012 film Gangs of Wasseypur to certify it with explicit words.
