Many homes and apartments are small which include only a tiny balcony, or patio and creating this tiny area as a garden isnt easy; but even a single, well-placed container can add personality and color to a small space.
Gardening tips for small Balconies:
1. Think of what you want to do.
• Measure the size of balcony/patio, then what kind of plants would you want to/should put up. These things should be planned well before in advance.
• A balcony has the greatest impact either as an extension of indoor spaces for smaller homes and incorporating the outdoor view in the small balcony will have a mind blowing impact.
2. Choose a purpose for your garden.
• You want your garden to be decorative or want to grow some herbs and vegetables or you would want to incorporate both?
• Decide how you want your garden to look. You will have to stick to a color pattern for the garden to given an illusion that it’s a big space.
3. Clear the clutter.
• Many homes, due to lack of space use balcony or patio as a make shift store room for excess stuffs- try de-cluttering those
• Discard or remove any items that are not necessary and give yourself space to organize and access the rest.
• Or you can put a small cabinet in some corner of the balcony and put all these stuff inside that, so in that way you can conceal them and you can also put your flower pots on top of the cabinet – which will give a neat and tidy yet spacious arrangement.
4. Disguise the boundaries.
If a fence or railing is the prominent feature in your garden area, use plants as your boundary either on top of the railing – if it’s broad enough or try creepers on the railings and fences.
5. Go Vertical
Build a vertical garden by training a climber up a wall or fence. You could also use wall- or fence-mounted containers, or open shelving for more containers or you can also use a shoe organizer for vertical gardening.
6. Still Haven’t got the space for gardening? Try indoor gardening.
