Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday paid tribute to the martyrs of the 2001 Parliament House terrorist assault.
Paying tributes to those that had laid their lives on the pivotal day 13 years back, Modi tweeted: “We salute martyrs who lost their lives protecting the Temple of our Democracy on this day in 2001. Their offerings are carved in our memory.
On December 13, 2001, five vigorously equipped shooters stormed the Parliament mind boggling and opened random flame, murdering nine persons.
The martyrs incorporated five Delhi Police staff, a lady Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) official, two Parliamen watch and ward staff and a planter.
A writer, who was harmed, passed on later. Each of the five terrorists were shot dead.
After a year, four charged, including Afzal Guru, were captured for the assault and discovered blameworthy after a trial.
Guru was hanged to death for his contribution in the Parliament assault.
