The one sweet that is made at every home in India during Diwali (Or Holi, or Birthdays, or any other festival for that matter), Besan Laddoos are one of the most popular sweets of Indian cuisine. One simply, doesn’t just need any occasion to prepare this sweet and they are so irresistible that you would simply keep popping them in, until you are full.
Note:
The rich flavour depends on roasting/ cooking the besan well, as under-cooking will leave a raw taste.
The ratio of ghee and gram flour is an important factor- use too little ghee- the laddoos will be dry; use too much, the laddoos will be too soft and will not be moulded properly.
Ingredients:
4 cups besan (gram flour)
1 cup ghee
2 cups powdered sugar
¼ cup coarsely powdered almonds
½ tsp. cardamom powder
Recipe:
Heat ghee in a wok, add besan, and mix well while cooking on a medium flame till the aroma of the flour starts coming out. Transfer the flour to another plate to cool it.
Now add sugar, coarsely powdered almonds, cardamom and mix while continuously rubbing the mixture in between your palms till it gets a crumbly.
Take small portions of the mixture and shape them into tight rounds.
Besan Laddoos are now ready to pop into your mouths.
