Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived at the SAP Centre, San Jose to a rousing welcome by over 18,000 Indian diaspora.
He also met several Congressmen before beginning to address Indian diaspora.
People started assembling at the SAP center earlier in the day
Key points in his address:
1. A lot has changed in 25 years, since I last came. I have experienced in California the vibrant image of India.
2. You have got the world to change its perception of India and I congratulate you. But there will be many more brains in the country
3. If you would have noticed there has been discussion a few years ago that we would need to change BRICS because India was tottering. . . But today I can say with conviction that if there is someone standing with confidence now it is ‘I’.
4. Did anyone think brain drain can become brain gain? This is not brain drain but brain deposit.
5. Don’t think of this as brain drain. When the opportunity comes, it will come to the service of Mother India
6. It is widely accepted that 21st century is India’s century.
7. I have faith in the nation because India is youthful. 65 per cent of our population is under the age of 35.
8. Today after 16 months, I want a certificate from you. Have I kept my promise? Am I working hard?
9. I promise I will live for the country and even die for it
10. From Upanishads, we have moved to upagraha. India succeeded in its Mars Mission in the very first attempt.
11. I have realized E-Governance is easy, effective and economical governance
12. If it has taken the UN 15 years to define terrorism, how long will it take to fight terrorism?
13. It should be in black and white what is terrorism…As long as there is good terrorism, humanity isn’t safe. Terrorism is terrorism. There is no Good Terrorism and Bad Terrorism.
