‘Ram Setu’ or the Adams Bridge is believed to be world’s greatest, strongest and the oldest bridge. As the story goes in Ramayana, the bridge was built by an army of monkeys along with special power from Nala and Nila who were the avatars of Visvakarama. So how could a bridge made of only stones with no binding material could bear the load of thousands people army.
If Tulsi Das’s “Ramcharitmanas” is to be followed then it states about a curse given to both Nila and Nala by which they could make anything float in the water.
This 1.7 million years old bridge hardly took 5 days to be finished and that was possible with the help of around 10 million Vanaras (Monkey). It starts from Dhanushkodi tip of India’s Pamban Island and ends at Sri Lanka’s Mannar Island.
While experts are trying to find out the mystery behind the black floating rocks, many geologists say that the bridge is built by natural process but failed to provide enough proofs.
The spiritual leaders have their own explanation saying that the name ‘Rama’ written on each rock was effective enough to make them float.
The ‘Setu’ which was floating above the water is now under the water. So what made it sink!
If scientific explanation is to be considered then this phenomenon is related to ‘Pumice stone theory’. But if this could be 100 percent true!
While some scientist claims that the rocks are actually coral formation. After some theories this two cases were dismissed.
One can still see some rocks (neither a pumice nor a coral) floating on the water in Rameshwaram, Tamil Nadu.
One has to admit the outstanding artistry of ‘Ram Setu’.
Till the scientists find out the real truth, guess whether it is/was a man-made or nature-made bridge!
