Everyone has those days when one feels sleepy at work after lunch- so you go to wash rooms or rest rooms and start napping, or maybe gossip with friends at the loo, or sleep at your desk when your boss isn’t around. Yawning and sleeping during the day is a common issue, but the consequences of reckless slumber could be a failing grade on a paper or push you in trouble- like a stern talk from your boss. The condition, when you feel sleepy all the time is known as hypersomnia, recurrent sleepiness that makes people want to nap repeatedly, even at work.
This problem of daytime sleepiness usually starts at night – missing just a few nights’ sleep, or not getting enough uninterrupted sleep, can slow you down and sour your mood. Poor sleep habits are often the cause of daytime sleepiness. Before you go through any more groggy and crabby days, try these ways to improve night time sleep and avoid daytime sleepiness.
.Change and Regulate sleeping patterns. Stick to one specific sleeping pattern.
.Try turning off your WiFi before going to bed. This will definitely try reducing your itchiness to check your phone every few minutes or try silencing your phones.
.Read a book or try talking to your family or partner before bed. If possible, listen to some, relaxed and soothing music.
.Dim your room lights, and keep your room cool.
.Set consistent healthy meal times. Do not snack on junk food. Try snacking fruits or nuts or digestive cookies.
.If too sleepy, then try walking. Go take a walk around the office; or go to your friend’s desk and chat for 2-3 minutes.
.Drink adequate water.
.If your work gets too monotonous, then try switching the task.
.Pop in peppermint or a mouth freshener. Peppermint helps you stay alert.
.Go have a coffee.
