Tanning is the result of skin trying to protect itself against sun burns by producing melanin. So even if you are wearing a sunscreen or a sun block your skin will tan, but the process will be very slow. So it is advisable to always cover your skin even after applying sunscreen.
Even if your skin is once tanned- you still HAVE to apply sunscreen AND a facial moisturizer everyday, to prevent in deeper damage to the skin.
Most people get freaked on hearing that sunscreens use chemical filters to help protect from the sun, but stay assured, these ingredients are put through extensive testing and are safe to use on skin.
Using a stronger SPF will not really help you stay protected from sun all day, as they tend to wear off. So you SHOULD re-apply sunscreens every 3-4 hours. And cover yourself up with a hat or a cotton scarf.
Buying an SPF of 30 and above have minimal difference, but you should buy an SPF based on your skin type. – An SPF 30 will block out 97% of UV rays; SPF 45 will block out 98% and SPF 60 will block out 99%”
Sports sunscreen are better, but not recommended for everyday use as they are thicker and oily.
So go ahead and choose the sunscreen according to your preference!
