ALT Balaji has started a new web series, Dev DD for the new generation girls. This web series is loaded with drama, passionate romance, and unexpected twists. This series is having everything that every young girl would love to watch.
Dev DD is a story of a girl-next-door, Devika. The story is based in Rajasthan. The girl is simply crazy when analyzed by the Indian standards. She talks about gender equality and wants to chase her dreams that lead her to a way out of Rajasthan. Though she lives in a place where the society is ruled by two sets of different rules. One set is for men and another set is for women. She is just opposite to what Indian values teach to a girl. She is up for everything and anything. She drinks, smokes, and having no intention to get married to her boyfriend. Devika adamantly dreams to work for her living but she knows that her mother has something reserved for her. The girl exactly understands what her mother wants to do; she knows her mother being a control freak wants Devika to get married and drop all those dreams of her about working after marriage.
This web series talks about the Indian taboo topics such as sex and every issue related to every girl’s life. Indian values have taught the Indian girls not to talk about sex publicly. It is believed that a perfect Indian girl should dream about her “happily married life”. But, everything we claim to know or claim to understand is far from the reality. The modern Indian girl is independent, dreams of an ambitious career, knows how to hold on to the love of her life, exactly understands how to cope up with a heartbreak, and on top of everything, she is open to new experiences. As believed, she is not at all reserved and is not at all dependent on anyone.
Devika is brilliantly portrayed by Asheema Vardaan; she has put life into the character.
