Is it possible to grow a plant indoor with no sunlight, less water, no soil and no nutrients?
The Brightbox is answer to it!
Brightbox is high-tech horticulture lab in the Netherland’s agricultural hub of Venlo where people were invited to taste what is grown under light emitting diodes (LED).
The lab is first of its kind where fresh plants are grown in such immaculate conditions. There is no need to wash the leaves before sampling.
The plants can be grown with less labor and is potentially the best way to increase the production even during those harsh weather conditions. It has been found that plants grow faster under red and blue lights than the full spectrum of sunlight.
The project can solve most of the countries food problem, if it proves out to be a success.
The research facility is a partnership between HAS University of Applied Sciences and the lighting giants Philips Royal.
