The voting for the vice presidential election have been started in the Parliament today, in which he members of the Parliament will be voting to choose the second powerful person of the country. The results will be announced in the evening. BJP’s Venkaiah Naidu has already been chosen as the vice presidential candidate for NDA. He will be contesting against opposition’s Gopalkrishna Gandhi, grandson of Mahatma Gandhi and the former governor of West Bengal.
Gandhi, along with the parties in opposition, has support from Janta Dal (United) and Biju Janta Dal, who have voted for NDA’s Ramnath Kovind in the Presidential polls. Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar had clarified the same even after joining hands with BJP in Bihar to form the government leaving Lalu Prasad Yadav and Congress’s Maha-Gathbandhan.
The voting will be end at 5 pm on Saturday and the results can be expected at around 7 pm in the evening.
Current vice-president Hamid Ansari’s term is going to end on August 10. He has been the vice president of the country for two consecutive terms.
According to the statistics, BJP-led NDA which have majority in total strength of 790 in the Parliament, including both the houses, will sweep the election by heavy margin.
