Fairy Tales are meant to make kids believe in Happily Ever After- which is also shown in all those Disney Movies- on TV and Movies. . . BUT reality hits hard. The REAL stories of these Fairy Tales are not-so-happy; same as our real life. As we grow and the real situations hit us we start losing our faith in these fairy tales, although some ardent believers still hold faith in their happily-ever-after; but even in the real stories written about these Disney Princesses they didn’t have a happy-ending- At least not all of them.
So What happened to them? Read on!
1.In the Brother’s Grimm version of Cinderella, her stepsisters cut off pieces of their foot to fit into the glass slipper.
(Who writes stuff like that in kid’s stories? *Horror* )
2.Rapunzel was never rescued by her prince and was cast out into a desert. Meanwhile, her prince was blinded when he was thrown into a thorn bush. In the fairy tale, she gave birth to twins while stranded in the desert and he roamed the world alone for years before they were finally reunited.
(Why does Disney want to show us versions of a Prince rescuing the Princess or the most recent Tangled, where Rapunzel is shown strong and not ‘Damsel in Distress’; Keep it straight and let the kids know the reality of life)
3.The Snow Queen, which Disney turned into Frozen, involved a shattered magical mirror that made people throughout the world turn cruel or incapable of seeing beauty.
(Wasn’t the Snow Queen supposed to be evil and not adorable??, Just asking!)
4.The Evil Queen in the Brothers Grimm’s Snow White died in a really horrifying way. There is no Disney song that makes dancing in fiery hot iron shoes until you’re dead less horrifying.
IDK but I still prefer Edward Kitsis and Adam Horowitz’s Once Upon a Time version
5.Pinocchio murders Jiminy Cricket in Carlo Collodi’s novel. *Weeps.*
(Wait . . WHAT? )
6.There is nothing romantic about GiambattistaBasile’s Sleeping Beauty . It involves the rape of a sleeping girl who is abandoned and later gives birth to twins.
(Another Harsh Reality of Life- shown as one true love by the Disney )
7.Prince Eric Marries someone else In Hans Christian Andersen’s The Little Mermaid, the prince also never finds out it was the mermaid who saved his life. The only way to get her tail back is to kill him, so Ariel kills herself instead.
This just makes me sad thinking Ariel truly loved Prince Eric while he never even found out who actually saved his life;
