World Heritage Day: Twitter Flooded With Incredible India

Heritage is a property which can be a historic building or cultural tradition which gets inherited from one generation to another. Every year, World Heritage Day is celebrated on April 18. The day is dedicated to the celebration of monuments from all around the world.

This year, the theme chosen for the day was sustainable tourism as a connection to UN’s International Year of Sustainable Tourism for Development.

Konark-TempleIndia’s 35 world heritage sites are recognized by UNESCO which includes a few of them as Taj Mahal, Konark Temple, Elephanta Caves, and others. The day raises awareness of preserving these heritages. And, in support to that Indian Twitter users have tweeted a number of pictures of Indian heritages.

A piece of news might interest you which confirms that last year, 3 Indian sites were added to the list of UNESCO heritage sites which includes Chandigarh’s Capitol Complex, Sikkim’s Khangchendzonga National Park, and the ruins of Nalanda University in Bihar. These sites were proposed by our nation to add in the list.
